Message Morning guys, does anyone have any first-hand experience with any of these? I'm putting together a list for the track slut slicky build for '09, and these are 3 of the first things on the body that will be changed. The front fenders are really just for the added width, so I can run a 285 or 295 up there without looking goofy. I wish they didn't have the vents behind the wheel, but you take the bad with the good I suppose, and with the right bumper and splitter I might be able to make it look "ok".

I'm set on the escort doors since the price isn't bad and I don't doubt the quality. Don't worry, there will be door bars as part of the cage.

The hatch is one area I'm having trouble with. First, anyone have an actual weight figure of the stock hatch with glass? The escort FRP hatch is $1000. I've seen the VIS cf hatch for ~650, as well as others, but can anyone vouch for quality and weight? I feel like the escort would be a nicer, better fitting piece.. but it comes down to weight really. I obviously want the hatch to fit and not fall apart, but for a track slut I can live with a few skewed lines.

Before I forget, does anyone know if the escort FRP doors would support the weight of the power window mechanism WITH speedglass?

Lastly, engines.. I've tossed around the thought of just about every motor, and at the moment am set on the ls1/t56. I had considered a VQ, an SR, a VH, a VK, and even an svt cobra motor (cool, but damn expensive and heavy). So, I read somewhere the ls1 and trans was about 100lbs lighter than the VG/trans (not sure if TT or n/a), and had also been told the ls1, trans and all accessories was ~603lbs. I was not going to put in a heavier motor than stock, but aside from that my concern was less how much weight - but rather where the weight was on the front of the car. This ruled out any inline 6 cylinder, and I thought it may rule out a V8 - but I looked at a few pictures of the ls1 in the z, and it actually appears to sit farther behind the front wheels than the VG. So, as long as it's no longer than the VG, and weighs less - I'm happy. (Torque and overall powerband obviously played a big role in the decision making, this is actually why the SR was thrown out quick, and ls1 = win).

I also may make a couple hollowed out fiberglass enclosures to go in place of the stock headlights for daylight track time. This would also allow for a nice duct directly to the filter on the ls1.

'09 is going to be a fun year :)
Thoughts, parts reviews, suggestions?
